I was deeply privileged to join and witness the historic courtesy visit by the Conference Committee of the Rabitah 2026 National Conference to Distinguished Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, PhD, at his residence in Bodija, Ibadan. The esteemed delegation was led by the General Secretary of the League of Imams and Alfas in Yorubaland, Sheikh Mustapha Hussein DOHAK, acting under the authority of the Grand Chief Imam of Oyo State, Sheikh Abdul Ganiy Abubakri Agbotomokekere. The visit brought together an array of distinguished Islamic scholars, including the Grand Mufti of Yorubaland, Sheikh Abdul Razaq Ishola Abdul Azeez, the Grand Mufti of Oyo State, Sheikh Ismail Okunmeebo, Mogaji Basunu Sheikh Nurudeen Basunu, alongside various zonal Chief Imams and representatives from across the state. The primary purpose of this landmark gathering was to formally brief the Senator on the forthcoming Rabitah 2026 National Conference, seek his valuable counsel, and secure his esteemed participation in an event that promises to be a watershed moment for the Muslim Ummah.

During the interaction, the leadership of the delegation articulated the crucial themes of the conference, emphasising the need for constructive engagement between religious leaders and political stakeholders to advance peaceful coexistence, good governance, and responsible civic participation ahead of the 2027 General Elections. I am particularly proud of Sen. Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli's consistent devotion to promoting religious and ethical dialogues that advance communal harmony. As a firsthand witness to the proceedings, I was immensely moved when the Distinguished Senator, on the spot, backed his words of encouragement with a profound act of benevolence by donating ₦25million to support the seamless organisation and execution of the conference. This substantial contribution reflects his deep-seated conviction that supporting religious institutions and intellectual gatherings is a vital investment in the moral fabric of our society.

Distinguished Senator graciously seized the opportunity provided by this visit to seek the continuous backing, partnership, and spiritual coverage of our revered scholars as he continues his legislative duties and broader leadership endeavours for our people in Oyo State. In a touching response that underscored the mutual respect between the political leadership and the clergy, special prayers were offered for the Senator by Sheikh Ismail Yusuf Olaide, Mogaji Itamaya. The scholars collectively beseeched Almighty Allah to grant Senator Alli sound health, divine protection, and expanded wisdom, while praying that his ongoing service to humanity will bring lasting peace, unity, and unprecedented development to Oyo State and Nigeria at large.

Observing these interactions at such close quarters further reinforces my appreciation for BSA's exceptional leadership style, characterised by genuine humility, transparency, and a relentless drive to serve with unyielding integrity. He remains profoundly attentive to the most pressing issues concerning the good people of Oyo State, constantly aligning his legislative priorities and personal interventions with the real needs of the grassroots. His ability to seamlessly bridge political responsibilities with cultural and religious reverence demonstrates that true governance requires empathy, broad-based consultation, and an abiding respect for all segments of society.

As the First Fakhar Soliheen of Oyo State, and one who is actively involved in the preparations for hosting the League of Imams and Alfas for this historic convention, I reaffirm my full commitment to working alongside Sen. Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli and all stakeholders to ensure the resounding success of Rabitah 2026 Conference. This conference will undoubtedly provide a solid foundation for moral rejuvenation, mutual understanding, and strategic progress across Yorubaland. I urge the entire Muslim Ummah and all citizens of Oyo State to continue to support initiatives that promote peace and ethical leadership, for it is only through such unified efforts that we can build a secure, prosperous, and enviable future for generations to come.
